ROMAN BARCELONA, THE FOUNDING OF A CITY
A guided tour to discover the origins of Barcelona while exploring the best Roman ruins in the city
Having begun life as a colony established by the Roman Emperor Augustus between 15-10 BC on the small hill of Mons Taber, Barcelona remained part of the Roman Empire for over 400 years.
During this tour, we will discover an impressive array of Roman landmarks and artifacts that survive from ancient Roman times and are centred upon the Barri Gòtic: Roman city walls, a Roman cemetery, the Temple of Augustus and the ruins of the aqueduct.
It is also possible to visit the Museum of History and see the remains of the ancient Roman city where we will discover a cellar, a fish food factory, ancient streets, a Roman domus, the remains of a basilica, among many other remains.
