DATE: Octuber 26 at 8am
Enjoy autumn in Montseny with a very complete outing that includes a guided tour of the spectacular Montsoriu Castle, one of the most beautiful Gothic castles in the world; a guided visit to Breda, a village full of attractions; and a lovely and easy hike (1 hour) from Arbúcies to the Molí de les Pipes, following the stream through majestic forests that, in autumn, dress up in their finest colors for us to enjoy.
ASCENT (2.8KM / 30-40 MINUTES) AND GUIDED TOUR OF MONTSORIU CASTLE Defined in the 13th century by Bernat Desclot as “one of the most beautiful and noble in the world,” visiting Montsoriu today allows us to imagine what life was like in one of the great castles of the Middle Ages. Considered one of the greatest fortresses in the Mediterranean, Montsoriu shows us the structure that once served as the grand palace residence of the viscounts of Cabrera.
We will access the castle from the parking lot. The parking area is located at the foot of the hill, next to the road to Fogueres de Montsoriu, and we will need to walk for 30 to 40 minutes (2.8 km) to reach the castle.
Guided visit to Breda, famous for its ceramics and its spectacular Romanesque bell tower, the “Cathedral of La Selva”
Breda is a small town located at the foot of Montseny, known for its ceramics tradition, which dates back to the 15th century, and for being the setting of the TV3 series Ventdelplà. However, Breda holds many surprises, starting with its former Benedictine monastery from the Romanesque period and its impressive bell tower, one of the tallest in Catalonia, known as the “Cathedral of La Selva.” In Breda, we will also visit the small but fascinating Aragay Museum and an old clay workshop.
Guided visit in Arbúcies and a very easy and pleasant walk to Molí de les Pipes (1 hour)
Arbúcies, located at the foot of Montseny, is intrinsically linked to water, with its generous springs and its beautiful stream that crosses the valley, protected by majestic forests. To enjoy the town and its surroundings, we will follow the path that connects the town to Molí de les Pipes along the course of the river. It is an easy and beautiful walk through forests with monumental trees.
