DISCOVER THE IMPRESSIVE VALL DE LORD, WALK TO THE SANCTUARY OF LORD -one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Catalonia- and visit SOLSONA (maximum group 30 people)
On this occasion, we propose a complete and beautiful excursion to the Solsonès region, in the heart of Catalonia. An excursion that includes a guided visit to the beautiful town of Solsona, the regional capital and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Catalonia, as well as a beautiful walk from Sant Serni de Grau (in Sant Llorenç de Morunys) to the sanctuary of Lord , where we can enjoy one of the most impressive and spectacular views of Catalonia.
– WALK TO THE SANCTUARY OF LORD FROM SANT SERNI DE GRAU
Beautiful 9km route (round trip) that will allow us to discover one of the most symbolic natural environments of the Vall de Lord. Beginning at the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Serni del Grau, the route runs up to the Mola de Lord, where we can enjoy fantastic views of the Lord valley and the La Llosa del Cavall reservoir.
The route (by dirt road and paved track) does not present any type of technical difficulty, but there is a certain unevenness (192 meters) and in the final section you have to climb many stairs (10 minutes).
– VISIT SOLSONA
Solsona has one of the best preserved medieval towns in Catalonia. Its narrow streets and porticoed squares reveal monuments such as the Cathedral of Santa María; the Tower of the Hours; the Llobera Palace; the Bishop’s Palace, an outstanding example of Catalan neoclassical and home to the important Diocesan and Regional Museum; manor houses, walls, monumental portals, etc.
THE PLAN:
– 8h: We will meet in Plaza Catalunya -in front of the Hard Rock- to catch the bus. Please, punctuality!
– 10-10.30h: Brief breakfast/coffee in Sant Llorenç de Morunys
– 10.30-11h: Visit Sant Llorenç de Morunys -for free-
– 11-14h: Hike to the Sanctuary of the Lord
– 14-15h: Lunch-picnic at the Santuari del Lord
– 15-16.30: Walk back to Sant Llorenç de Morunys
– 16.30-17h: Bus to Solsona
– 17-18h: Visit Solsona -for free-
– 18h: Return bus, arriving in Barcelona around 8:00 p.m.
Languages: Spanish and Catalan
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE WALK:
– Level: Easy to medium
– Total distance: 9km
– Cumulative drop: 192 meters
– Duration: 3-4 hours approx. (round trip)
IMPORTANT: Due to the exceptional circumstances we are experiencing, the guide will give an introductory explanation of a historical-cultural nature and will give practical information on the bus, but the visits to Sant Llorenç de Morunys and Solsona will be done independently. To do the walk, we will divide into small groups to keep our distance and avoid crowding together.
We are going to have a picnic around the sanctuary -impressive views-, so you have to bring food/sandwich from home or buy it in a bar in Sant Llorenç de Morunys.
To have more space during the journey, we go by coach with 60 seats for a maximum of 30 people.
If the weather forecast is bad or the situation caused by Covid19 gets much worse, the excursion will be postponed.
