Visit “El Call”, the old Jewish quarter, and discover the highlights of Barcelona’s important medieval Jewish community.
El Call, the old Jewish quarter of Barcelona, is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter and its streets and houses have housed one of the most important Jewish communities on the peninsula since the 12th century until in August 1391 the neighborhood was attacked and its neighbors killed or persecuted.
This guided tour will allow you to learn how Barcelona’s Jews lived and discover the main characteristics of Judaism, a complex combination of religion, culture and tradition.
During the tour, which tries to follow the old route of the Call, you will have the opportunity to see the structure of the aljama; discover the main occupations of the Jews; understand the importance of synagogues; see the few surviving remains of the Call and learn about some highlights of the most eminent Jews who lived in those streets for nearly three centuries.
IMPORTANT: it is essential to wear an approved mask and respect the safety distance at all times.
