Hostalric and its fortress: guided tour, walk along the banks of the Tordera and calçotada in a farmhouse

We bid farewell to the 2022 excursions with a guided visit to Hostalric, a beautiful village of medieval origin; a pleasant and easy 1-hour walk along the banks of the Tordera river; and an optional calçotada in a nice farmhouse with beautiful views of the Montseny.

– HOSTALRIC AND ITS IMPRESSIVE FORTRESS
It is a very complete guided tour that will allow us to discover the most outstanding corners and monuments of the medieval site of Hostalric, among which the Cova del Relliguer (spectacular 26-meter-long cave), the walls, the Torre dels Frares ( from the top of the tower we will enjoy the best panoramic view of the town and its surroundings), the church of Santa Maria dels Socors, etc.

The tour also includes a guided visit to the spectacular fortress located at the top of the town. It is a military fortress built on irregular terrain with the typical defensive elements of the time. Its bomb-proof gallery is considered one of the most spectacular spaces in the castle and one of the most unique in Catalonia. The highest part occupies the place of the old medieval castle of the Cabrera family.

– PLEASANT AND BEAUTIFUL WALK ALONG THE RIBERA DE LA TORDERA
It is a beautiful and pleasant one-hour walk without any kind of technical difficulty along the banks of the Tordera river, which as it passes through Hostalric gives us corners of great beauty. The walk does not present any type of technical difficulty.

– OPTIONAL CALÇOTADA IN A BEAUTIFUL FARMHOUSE WITH VIEWS TO MONTSENY (28 euros)
After the visit to the town and the walk along the banks of the Tordera we will have the option of going to eat a complete calçotada (calçots, grilled meat and desserts) in Can Gispert, a beautiful farmhouse with views of Montseny. The price of the calçotada menu is 28 euros.
