Autumn in Montseny Natural Park: Santa Fe reservoir and hiking route in Viladrau

A very complete excursion to enjoy autumn in the heart of the Montseny Natural Park with two beautiful and easy hikes and a guided tour in Viladrau:

1- Circular route around the Santa Fe del Montseny reservoir

The Santa Fe reservoir is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Montseny, under the watchful eye of Turó de l’Home and Les Agudes, two of the highest and most iconic mountains in the Natural Park. The route, 4 km long on a flat path, loops around the lake. During the walk, we can enjoy the full essence of Montseny, which dresses up in autumnal colors at this time of year.

2- Route to the Castanyer de les Nou Branques in Viladrau

A beautiful, pleasant, and easy walk from Viladrau to the Castanyer de les Nou Branques. This is a very easy circular walk, suitable for all ages, through chestnut, oak, and holm oak trees with lovely views of Matagalls, the other iconic mountain of Montseny.

3- Guided tour to discover Viladrau

Viladrau was one of the favorite destinations of Barcelona’s upper bourgeoisie in the early 20th century. It is located in the area where Montseny and Les Guilleries meet, a privileged spot of great beauty due to the lushness of its forests and the abundance of water. Viladrau is also known for having the best chestnuts in Catalonia.

THE PLAN:

• 8:00 AM: We meet at Plaça Universitat – main entrance of the UB – to take our private coach. We will stop for breakfast during the trip.
• 10:30-12:30 PM: Arrival at the Santa Fe reservoir and circular route around the lake.
• 12:30-1:00 PM: Coach to Viladrau.
• 1:00-2:30 PM: Circular walk to the “Castanyer de les Nou Branques.”
• 2:30-4:30 PM: Free time for lunch (I recommend reserving at the modernist Can Bofill hostel – 938849012).
• 4:30-5:30 PM: Guided tour of the town.
• 5:30 PM: Return coach, arriving in Barcelona around 7:30 PM.
