DATE: December 11th at 10am
Cava, chocolate and Christmas, the perfect pairing! Enjoy a unique experience in the heart of the Penedès that combines a visit with tasting to the exhibition space of the Simón Coll chocolate factory; a visit with tasting to the spectacular cellars of Freixenet, the world’s leading cava company by production volume; and a guided tour of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of cava.
– VISIT THE IMPRESSIVE FREIXENET CELLARS + TASTING
Freixenet, despite being one of the largest producers of cava in the world, remains a family business. The 90-minute tour is a great opportunity to visit one of the largest wineries in the world and learn first-hand about the entire cava production process.
The tour begins with a video about the family history of Freixenet and the company. The tour then moves on to visit the oldest parts of the impressive cellar: the barrel room, the different floors of the cellars and the rock grotto where the bottles rest on racks or in racks. During the tour, the guide explains the traditional method of making cava, imported from the Champagne region of France. Part of the tour of the cellars, a labyrinth of corridors that never seem to end, is done in a little train and allows us to get an idea of the grandeur of the cellars. The visit ends with a cava tasting.
– VISIT THE SIMON COLL XOCOLATA SPACE + TASTING
Espai Xocolata allows us to immerse ourselves in an experiential experience that will allow us to learn about the culture, history and process of making chocolate. Have you ever wondered what the cocoa tree is like and what it is called? Do you know how many cocoa beans are needed to make a bar of chocolate? Through an audiovisual montage of spectacular panoramic screens, and the explanations of the chocolate expert guide, we will discover the whole process of making chocolate and enjoy a sensory tasting of freshly made chocolate.
– GUIDED WALK THROUGH SANT SADURNÍ D’ANOIA
Known as the capital of cava and surrounded by a captivating wine landscape with ancient roots, Sant Sadurní has more than eighty cava-making companies. Heirs to a tradition that began in 1872, these companies have forged what has become the fundamental element of the local economy and a pole of attraction for numerous visitors who are seduced by the glamor and sophistication of wine tourism.
During the guided walk we will have the opportunity to discover the exciting history of the town and admire some of the most outstanding modernist houses in the town.
