DATE: January 21st at 5pm
Located halfway between the bustling Sants and the tranquility of the upper area, Les Corts is a residential neighborhood of middle and wealthy classes that maintains a certain popular character from the times when it was inhabited by workers’ colonies, such as the old Colonia Castells, whose last houses (the cheap houses) were demolished only a few years ago.
Part of a former independent municipality (it had previously been part of Sarrià) that was annexed to Barcelona in 1897, the current neighborhood of Les Corts still preserves charming corners hidden among the large blocks of apartments. Its former rural and stately character (in the area known as Les Corts Velles) can still be seen in the squares of Can Rosés, Comas and Concòrdia, which constitute the heart of the old town of Les Corts.
