The semi-rural neighborhood of Sant Genís dels Agudells hides many surprises. And one of them is the surprising Palmero museum, which houses a permanent collection of 125 paintings made by the painter Maestro Palmero and revolving around various scenes from the masterpiece of the writer Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote. The farmhouse now occupied by the museum, restored by the Palmero family, preserves the stone facade with Gothic-inspired windows.
Sant Genís dels Agudells, located at the foot of the Collserola mountain range, is one of the most curious neighborhoods of the city. Its semi-rural character and its privileged environment make us forget that we are in Barcelona. The current neighborhood, which belongs to the district of Horta-Guinardó, was for centuries a small rural nucleus born around the church and a place much appreciated by the hikers who came up from Barcelona. The rural landscape only began to change during the Franco years, with the construction of humble houses and blocks of apartments for the working classes.
A very complete tour that combines a guided visit to the amazing Palmero museum (and the beautiful farmhouse that houses it) and a guided walk through one of the most unknown neighborhoods of Barcelona.
