El Maestrazgo, halfway between Teruel and Castellón, has an outstanding natural and landscape heritage. This region, of which nobody seems to agree to find its limits, preserves municipalities that hide great jewels. An unknown territory that is protected by high mountains of the interior, wrapped in a light that transmits captivating shades. In the Maestrazgo, the towns are authentic fortresses, and the castles look like eagles’ nests. In medieval times it lived in unprecedented splendor, which it has managed to preserve through its people, its culture and its architectural opulence. Accessing this corner of our geography is a delight for the senses, since its roads ascend through ports and mountains generous in beauty and nature.
And to get the most out of our stay in the Maestrazgo and Els Ports regions, we have designed a pleasant and relaxed program that will allow us to visit and enjoy the beautiful and imposing Morella, capital of the Valencian region of Els Ports and one of the most beautiful towns in Spain; Mirambel, the most beautiful of the Aragonese Maestrazgo (the film “Tierra y Libertad” by Ken Loach was filmed here); Cantavieja, historical capital of the Turolense Maestrazgo and stronghold of General Cabrera during the Carlist wars; La Iglesuela del Cid, a magical enclave on the Path of Don Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the Cid Campeador; Ares del Maestre, the best balcony in the north of the Valencian Country.
