A comprehensive <strong>4-day (3-night)<\/strong> trip with <strong>accommodation in a centrally located 4-star hotel in \u00c1vila,<\/strong> just steps from the Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>SEGOVIA, A WORLD HERITAGE CITY<\/p>\n<p class=\"texto\">Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, <strong>the city of Segovia<\/strong> rises atop a lush rocky outcrop flanked by the Eresma and Clamores rivers. <strong>The Roman Aqueduct and the medieval Alc\u00e1zar<\/strong> are the emblems of a city brimming with <strong>noble houses<\/strong> , <strong>palaces<\/strong> , and <strong>Romanesque churches<\/strong> that transform its narrow streets into a monumental open-air museum. Furthermore, Segovia boasts an impressive humanistic legacy: <strong>Quevedo<\/strong> drew inspiration from its streets and people to write *El Busc\u00f3n*. <strong>Isabella I<\/strong> was proclaimed Queen of Castile in this city, and it was here that the first book in Spain was printed. The mystics <strong>John of the Cross<\/strong> and <strong>Teresa of \u00c1vila<\/strong> passed through Segovia, as did the valiant warriors <strong>Juan Bravo<\/strong> , the Comunero, and <strong>D\u00edaz Sanz and Fern\u00e1n Garc\u00eda<\/strong> , conquerors of Madrid. But Segovia has also been shaped and given meaning by the words of <strong>Mar\u00eda Zambrano<\/strong> ; the walks, gatherings, and classes of <strong>Antonio Machado<\/strong> at the Institute; <strong>G\u00f3mez de la Serna<\/strong> revealing &#8221; <em>The Secret of the Aqueduct<\/em> &#8220;; and <strong>Louis Proust<\/strong> conducting research at the Royal Laboratory of Chemistry in the shadow of the Alc\u00e1zar. Segovia also had a populous Jewish quarter, with such prominent figures as <strong>Abraham Senneor<\/strong> , chief judge of the Jewish quarters of Castile. And let&#8217;s not forget Segovia&#8217;s rich gastronomy: the stews, and above all, the famous <strong>suckling pig<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the city of Segovia, we will have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful towns in the province: <strong>Pedraza<\/strong> , with its spectacular main square and castle; <strong>Sep\u00falveda<\/strong> , an impressive collection of narrow streets with houses bearing coats of arms and Romanesque churches next to the Hoces del r\u00edo Durat\u00f3n; <strong>Ar\u00e9valo<\/strong> , with its rich medieval heritage, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c1VILA, LA GRANJA AND SAN LORENZO DEL ESCORIAL<\/p>\n<p>Our hotel, located in <strong>the historic city of \u00c1vila<\/strong> , is a centrally located historic palace just steps from the Cathedral and very close to the impressive Romanesque walls that have brought so much fame to the city. Our stay in this charming capital of \u00c1vila will allow us to stroll through its picturesque old town and admire such outstanding monuments as <strong>the Cathedral<\/strong> (the first Spanish cathedral to incorporate the Gothic style), <strong>the famous city walls<\/strong> , <strong>the impressive Basilica of San Vicente<\/strong> , <strong>the Plaza del Mercado Chico<\/strong> , as well as <strong>countless Romanesque and Gothic churches and convents<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p>During the trip, we will also have the opportunity to visit the <strong>Royal Site of San Ildefonso, popularly known as La Granja<\/strong> : a royal palace surrounded by beautiful gardens located on the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama Natural Park; and <strong>the imposing monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial<\/strong> , the monument that best summarizes the ideological and cultural aspirations of the Spanish &#8220;Golden Age&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>HOLY WEEK IN \u00c1VILA<\/p>\n<p>Starting on Good Friday, after returning from our excursions, we can enjoy <b>Holy Week in \u00c1vila<\/b> , declared of International Tourist Interest, a magnificent expression of art and richness represented by the numerous processions that wind through the walled city. With its 15 processions and 14 brotherhoods, it is one of the most beautiful in Castile and Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>A fun and culturally rich trip to discover and enjoy \u00c1vila and Segovia, two beautiful provinces brimming with culture and history.<\/p>\n<p>MADRID<\/p>\n<p>On the last day, Sunday, we&#8217;ll travel to Madrid early and have free time to enjoy the city until 5 pm, when we&#8217;ll take the AVE high-speed train back to Barcelona.
