Date: from June 4 to June 6, 2022

Description

Enjoy three action-packed days in the South of France with a tour of the coastal region of Provence , a historic area with an exceptional natural, historical, and cultural heritage. This three-day getaway will allow us to visit Avignon and its spectacular Palace of the Popes ; Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie and Lusson , both listed among the most beautiful villages in France; stroll through the charming streets of Uzès , a small and beautiful town and former seat of a duchy; admire the Pont du Gard , the most impressive Roman aqueduct; visit the Maison Carrée and the colossal amphitheater of Nîmes , the “Little Rome” of France; follow in Van Gogh’s footsteps in the monumental city of Arles , a beautiful city on the banks of the Rhône with exceptional Roman heritage; enjoy the charming old town of Montpellier , one of the most vibrant in France, and much more.

AVIGNON AND ITS SPECTACULAR PAPAL PALACE

Avignon, the city of the Popes for nearly a century, is today a small provincial town on the banks of the Rhône. But its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most beautiful in France and boasts an impressive historical heritage. The most outstanding monumental complex is the Palace of the Popes, a magnificent and imposing 14th-century Gothic building, from the era when this small Provençal town became one of the centers of Christendom. Walking across the famous Pont d’Avignon over the Rhône and strolling through the city’s medieval streets, filled with old houses, picturesque squares, churches, and Renaissance palaces, is always a truly rewarding experience.

THE PONT DU GARD AND THE DUCAL VILLAGE OF UZÈS

The Pont du Gard is the tallest and best-preserved Roman aqueduct bridge in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site , this bridge forms part of the aqueduct that carried water from Uzès to Nîmes and spans the Gordon River. Visiting this site allows us to appreciate the beauty of the bridge, which is situated in a stunning natural setting, and admire the skill of the Roman engineers.

Uzès, the first duchy of France, is a picture-postcard village. And the best way to enjoy it is to stroll leisurely through its narrow streets and squares, allowing you to admire its rich architectural heritage, starting with the beautiful ducal castle.

Nîmes, the Little Rome of France

The historic city of Nîmes is known for its spectacular historical heritage and its festive, southern atmosphere. The Roman amphitheater , with a capacity of 24,000 spectators, is one of the best-preserved in the world and still regularly hosts performances, most notably the famous Camargue bullfights. Another of the city’s star attractions is the Maison Carrée (Square House), a splendid Roman temple from the late 1st century with columns topped by Corinthian capitals. Nîmes also boasts a small but picturesque old town and a beautiful romantic park: the Jardin de la Fontaine . This magnificent park, designed in the 18th century, is one of the most beautiful in southern France.

ARLES, BEAUTIFUL CITY AND REFUGE OF PAINTERS

Arles is a city with an impressive Roman legacy and boasts several monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites: the amphitheater (the Arenas); the ancient theater ; the Alyscamps, an avenue lined with sarcophagi; the cryptoporticus, an avenue of underground galleries supporting the ancient forum; the Baths of Constantine, the portal and the cloister of Saint-Trophime.

In addition, Arles boasts a beautiful old town of medieval origin , a wide variety of museums, and many of its corners, such as the garden of the health house (Van Gogh space), the forum square, the quays of the Rhône, or the Arenas, have been immortalized on the canvases of numerous painters, including Van Gogh .

MONTPELLIER, A PERFECT FUSION OF TRADITION AND MODERNITY

The Place de la Comédie is the heart of the city, dividing the medieval quarter from the modern expansion. Wandering and getting lost in its surroundings is the best way to discover and enjoy old Montpellier: the Place Saint Roch , which boasts a spectacular trompe l’oeil mural on one of the surrounding facades; the magnificent Gothic Saint Pierre Cathedral ; or the Rue Foch, which leads to the triumphal arch built at the end of the 17th century to replace a city gate. Furthermore, Montpellier can boast of having the oldest medical school in the world and one of the most prestigious universities in France, where illustrious figures such as Nostradamus, Arnau de Vilanova, and Ramon Llull studied.

In the modern part of Montpellier, which brings the city closer to the sea, we find the famous Antigone district , designed by the recently deceased Ricardo Bofill . Other new areas of Montpellier include the futuristic Odysseum and Port Marianne , which stands out for two very unique projects: the RBC Design Center furniture and accessories store, by Jean Nouvel, and the magnificent and colossal city hall building, also designed by Nouvel and the local architect François Fontès.

A spectacular and comprehensive three-day getaway of a fun and cultural nature to discover and enjoy the south of Provence, one of the most beautiful and diverse regions of France.

2.- Penalty expenses:

  • Between 45 and 20 days before departure: 50% of the total price of the trip.
  • Between 19 and 15 days before departure: 75% of the total price of the trip.
  • Between 14 days before and the day of departure: 100% of the total price of the trip.
  • No-show: 100% of the trip cost, whatever the reason.

info@enjoycatalonia.com

Note: We recommend purchasing EXTRA cancellation insurance to prevent any incident or illness (yours or your family’s) before a trip, especially if you have elderly relatives.

Cancellation insurance does not cover voluntary withdrawal (not attending the trip without a justified medical reason). It also does not cover nervous, psychological, mental, depressive, anxiety, or other pre-existing conditions, with or without hospitalization.

Cancellation and Change Conditions for Excursions, Visits and Outings (1 day):

The amount paid for day trips and cultural visits is non-refundable .

  • For those who have paid for a day trip, tour, or activity and cancel for a justified reason up to 7 days in advance , the amount will be held for one year towards another similar trip or excursion. Payment is non-refundable.
